ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bend, Oregon jewelry maker, Goph Albitz, began as a craftsman trained to the highly technical demands of precision engineering.
Albitz opened a studio in Big Sur in 1969 and cultivated a following, there, for his original designs using fine stones and precious metals. In 1976 he moved opened a studio in Carmel where he remained until moving to Bend, Oregon in 1997.
Clarity of design, a palette of exceptional colors and enduring quality distinguish his creations. He deliberately keeps his settings simple, so the combination of precious and semi-precious gemstones can reveal their beauty without distraction. While shells and fossils add unusual and exciting effects, Goph Albitz is perhaps best known for his inlays of opals and precious stones in gold and silver.
