ISOLDE BAUMHACKL-OSWALD

ABOUT THE ARTIST

About my work, written from an extract by Prof. Dr. Bott / Germany:
For Isolde Baumhackl-Oswald, the size and effectiveness of jewellery relates to the scale of the human body. Simple "idea sketches" are first prepared, suggesting the geometric structures of the future piece. She sees her work with both three dimensional forms and jewellery as increasingly complementary. The textures, colours and surfaces of the metals which she selects, play an essential role in contrasting with the shape of the object. In her most recent work, a perceptible heaviness adds to its formal qualities, yet the pieces never become "sculpture to wear".

1949 born in Pforzheim, Germany. 1969–1973 FH-Design Pforzheim Germany, study with Prof.Reiling. 1973 state examination as certified designer, since 1973 freelanced.
