ABOUT THE WORK

Based in Berlin, Germany, artist Carl Dau is a prominent artist and designer. Dau studied both jewelry and industrial design in college and brings together the two disciplines in his reduced, minimalist aesthetic.

“A strict clear form has its own special beauty. It is not plain, but restricts itself to the essentials of being unobtrusive and natural. We always look for a new jewelry theme that we can vary. From a multitude of possible variations we crystallize the best pieces which are, in their own right, of equal value and standing. We produce these in limited series which enables us – at moderate prices – to invest a lot of time and energy in their creation.

“The workshop building itself reflects our standards. We use modern technology and high aesthetic standards to develop and manufacture new products. The often banal, gaudy and short lived products by which we are surrounded are countered by our durable, well designed pieces of great clarity and aesthetic appeal.
