Pat Flynn

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jewlery artist Pat Flynn, of High Falls, New York, richly deserves the title “master metalsmith.” In the truest sense of the word, Pat Flynn is the consummate master of his art, achieving a uniquely complimentary relationship between design and technique.

Flynn opened his first studio in 1979 and continued doing benchwork for other jewelers until 1985, when he established Pat Flynn, Inc.. He now focuses exclusively on developing his own one-of-a-kind and limited edition work.

A highly skilled technician, Flynn brings an exacting discipline to the creation of his designs. His jewelry exhibits a striking simplicity of form, classical sense of proportion and diligent attention to detail. Flynn is intrigued by the intimate nature of jewelry: “I like the human connection to jewelry… the intimate scale… the sensuousness.”

ARTIST STATEMENT

“What attracts me to my work is the dichotomy that exists between materials and processes. The wildness of forging, juxtaposed with elegant goldsmithing techniques. I am interested in the underlying tension that results from combining disparate materials such as steel and diamonds, or gold and steel, in organic forms. My hope is that my work will go out into the world and communicate for me.”
