Karl Lee

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Karl Lee’s passion for wearable art jewelry began in Big Sur during the mid-sixties. Dedicated to functional beauty, Karl refers to the construction of his jewelry as ‘throwing pots’ and to the sawing of precious metals, as practicing kata (Japanese swordsmanship). His stone cutting has been deemed the ‘Zen of Lapidary’

Karl is influenced by the Golden Mean and by the laws and lines of nature. The fluid perfection of his work embodies geometrically proportioned forms. His originals connect the human body, the metal and the gemstones in harmonious design that will resonate for generations.

ABOUT THE WORK

Karl’s jewelry is devoid of mechanical repetition. Each piece is hand forged, sawn, welded and filed. Each unique piece features gems personally cut from antique material, either framed in 22K gold with a support of sterling silver, or in substantial displays of gold and/or platinum.

Karl says of his work; “What makes people individual, is their essential expression. What is essential is a whole-nother sphere of design. The purpose of my art is founded on the concept of each creation handmade intentionally for you”.
