Patina Gallery Announces 2010 Exhibition Schedule

Santa Fe's Patina Gallery, one of the country's premier venues for studio jewelry and contemporary craft, announces its 2010 exhibition calendar featuring new works by prominent American and European master artists.

Ivan Barnett, Patina's director, has taken great care in planning events for the coming year. With 2009, the gallery's successful 10th anniversary year behind him, Barnett is delighted to launch a second Patina decade with exhbitions of works from new artists, as well as artists who have been with the gallery from the beginning.

"People visiting Patina have come to expect a certain experience. Its the high standard of art that we show, the space itself, the service we enjoy providing....We work really hard but we also have a lot of fun. I think our friends and clients feel this and respect the gallery for it.

Merete Larsen
Whispering Tones
Turned Vessels in Wood

Patina offers new works by Danish artist, Merete Larsen. Larsen creates turned vessels in wood, measuring fractions of an inch in thickness. So delicate in appearance, almost translucent, her works appear to float. New in this exhibtion are bowls and vessels to which she has applied the softest of colorations, enhancing the woods' intricate grains and spalting.

July 9 - August 1
John Iversen
A Designing Nature
Studio Jewelry

In addition to his signature, nature inspired jewelry, artist John Iversen introduces completely new work in this, his second Patina exhibition. Iversen's works refelct an aesthetic that balances organic elegance with graphic strength. The classic, yet evolving nature of his works insure his place among the important jewelry artists of our time.

August 13 - September 5
Atelier Zobel
Studio Jewelry

Friends of Patina and studio jewelry will again be treated to the remarkable works of the German masters, Atelier Zobel. This will be the ninth return engagement by the Atelier and as always, it is eagerly anticipated. The jewelry of Atelier Zobel redefines metalsmithing. Through a painterly use of metals and selection of gems, the Atelier emphaticallly elevates jewelry into the realm of fine art.

October 15 - November 7
Nicholas Bernard
Clay Vases

Patina presents works in clay by Nicholas Bernard. Bernard has been with the gallery for just over a year and his voluptuous clay vessels have been enthusiastically received. His warm palette, the grainy texture of his clay and subtle surface patterning lend his vessels strength and quiet beauty.

December 3 - December 26
Ivan Barnett
Mobile Sculptures

Patina closes the year with an exhibition of mobiles by Ivan Barnett, whose career in craft spans decades and whose prominence in the world of American craft continues to grow. Barnett will return to his signature material, rusted 18 guage steel, in this first ever exhibit exclusively featuring his sought after mobiles.
