Dry color is ground, powdered pigment used in egg tempera patina. A binder of raw egg yolk and a small amount of water is mixed with the dry color to create a pigment often used on wooden panels. As I stood to take this shot of the mural, the blue reminded me of the dusting of dry color seen in the studios of so many artists in my youth.
