Artist Kay Khan harvests an array of techniques to compose her exquisite one of a kind creations. Stitching and quilting a collage of color, Khan utilizes that of a vibrant lime green textile to paint the base structure of her neckpiece. Upon its surface, she adheres patches of magenta and fuscia to then sketch a composition atop, one stitch at a time. In light of her zigzag creation, Khan playfully adds a contrast of yellow stitching to pose vivacious dynamism to further animate the work. With the graceful touch of the needle lace stitch, she carefully attaches glass beads and beads of mother of pearl as a vision of comely complexity and a nice finishing touch to the composition. The piece is completed by the way of a silk cord wrapped around a wooden button at the top of the piece. Here, Khan bestows to us a stirring work enraptured with both palpable abstraction and artful refinement which offer boundless avenues to enliven the soul.
