Orthocera fossil, agate
In this exquisite work by Atelier Hochstrasser, a fossilized orthocera is gracefully carved to become an eloquent and timeless keepsake for the body. Orthoceras are the fossilized remains of an extinct marine animal of the Cephalopod family. Ancestors to the modern-day squid and octopus, dated to the Devonian Period of 500 million years ago. In soft colors, awash in black, gray and white, an organic vibrancy comes through. The piece becomes a wonderful, natural fit worn around the finger as one admires the vast origins of this stone sculpted work of art.
