Patina Gallery is pleased to release a one of a kind, archival collage piece made and imagined by our co-founder and director, Ivan Barnett.
For you, he shares a bit behind this extraordinary work of art:
The two figures almost touching in my piece are the collective you and the collective me. My hopes and dreams were to someday create a space for the world to gather and behold beauty every day. Hence transcending to our purpose of the gallery, Patina became Beauty over Time. The symbols and shapes chosen in this collage represent my universal, spiritual and abstract self, which has evolved over my many years as an artist and adventurer. I made this piece in my first small studio garage in Santa Fe, on Camino Rancho Siringo, off Siringo Road. Here in my cramped little studio that I named Tumbleweed, I was just a few miles south of where Patina Gallery stands today. This work is a manifestation of both my wanderlust and artful home. This work is also a thank you to my dad, Isa, for always letting me dream large.
