Saturated

Patina Gallery’s beloved Santa Fe artist Claire Kahn returns with a brand-new exhibition for the holiday season.

Introducing

The bountiful riches of the season are realized in colorfulness beyond compare in Kahn’s latest collection of art jewelry and in her limited series of fine art on exhibit.

From her home studio, amongst the foothills of New Mexico’s Black Mesa Valley, the artist translates wearable works of art in bead crochet into tantalizing pointillist progressions that visualize mesmerizing places in time.

At the other side of her studio, the jewelry artist is dedicated to works born from her rich career in design. From conceptualizing graphic interiors and treatments, to the choreography of water in movement and light, Kahn beautifully affirms her endless passion for color, pattern, and progression with her collection of paintings and her solo wall sculpture for Saturated.

“Patina has given me the opportunity to include works in Saturated that use different mediums. Over the years, I have worked in bead crochet, cut paper, and ink and acrylic paint to explore and express my interest in color and pattern”
Claire Kahn

Her collection of two-dimensional, geometric paintings revitalizes the soul as they progress in additions of ink and acrylic. Kahn’s solo work, Topo III, comprises layers of mounting board, which slowly give way to concave and convex topographic forms that play on the surface between shadow and light.

Kahn’s artistic array of jewelry is presented in abundance, happily expressed with the joyful intensity of full-bodied gems. Radiant stones with flavorful pairings in silver and gold return for a renewed wintry debut amongst muted progressions.

“Pieces in Saturated are generally made with a dark matrix, punctuated with saturated color accents and with the uses of deep colored gemstones such as kyanite, garnet, amethyst, emerald, and sapphire. Some works, including the wall pieces, are made with patterns in white, black, gold, and silver that express the sharp contrasts found in winter”
Claire Kahn

Each work of art is a piece of saturated bliss, inspired by the wholeness this year’s tidings bring: the great pleasure of togetherness once again.

The artist captures the essence of the season in its pure, tasteful abundance. Celebratory beauty is teeming with vivacity and palpable wonder for both body and space.

“For me, winter is a time of jewel tones, saturated color, and contrast. The holiday season is celebrated with festivals of light, expressions of warmth that defy the cold and emerge from darkness”
Claire Kahn
