Photograph, printed on archival acid-free, heavy paper, 2021
She has graced the Santa Fe Opera stage regularly since her debut in 2013 as Violetta in La Traviata. Last heard here in Bernstein’s ‘Candide’ in 2018, she was incandescent in the lead role of Cunegonde. Performing her extensive repertoire on every important opera stage in the world, she was the recipient of the Met’s Beverly Sills Artist award in 2021. Bachtrack called her singing “helium-level coloratura” for her portrayal of Mozart’s Queen of the Night at Covent Garden.
David Zimmerman, head of the hair and makeup shop at the Santa Fe Opera referred Brenda to me for fresh promotional photos. She came to my studio, and we had great fun. Later I took behind the scenes photos of Brenda dressing, being made up, and changing costumes.
