Encaustic Monotype, wax, paper on freestanding wooden frame
Using careful thought and precision, Suzy Wahl creates an artful assemblage of encaustic monotypes. Using a warmed glass plate, she draws her composition with the use of colored wax. With satisfaction, she presses strong paper onto its waxen surface to reveal a mirror image of her mind's intention. Creating pieces of art with unique, compelling personality.
Blocks of yellow, red, blue and green purvey this exquisite work by Suzy Wahl. In balance between light strokes and deep saturation, the artist challenges the eye with the diverse complexities of color. Bright and mustard yellow effortlessly greet the contrasting pangs of red. The grander rose colored terrain is a lighter counterpart, lovingly brushed and pressed upon its canvas. The imprints of its waxen body emerge through the mysterious silo of blue, while easily arising through the final curtain, adorned at the bass with a delightful lime green, and charting its course through a now darkened yellow frame. Wahl composes a mesmerizing work of art and an extraordinary statement in space.
