Paper, cotton mat board, conservation clear acrylic, painted white wood frame
Made of multiple layers of patterned vellum laminated between clear acrylic, the piece lets light pass through densities that shift from layer to layer, creating gradual progressions from light to dark. It is a celebration of light and can hang in a window or any space where it can be lit from behind by daylight or the sun.
This work is less formally geometric than the other paper cuts in the exhibition. There is a sense of ascension, of spirits rising. At the end of each line sits a circle, a small opening where light can enter and gather.
