Erich Zimmermann
Sleek treasures
Erich Zimmermann lives and works in the center of Augsberg, Germany. He and his wife are both jewelers and share an atelier. Patina Gallery features two of Erich’s styles: cocoon pods and Cleopatra necklaces.
His handmade pods are beautiful and revolutionary at once, equally alluring as they are architectural. Using an anticlastic technique, Erich hammers flat pieces of metal into unique, three-dimensional forms that call to mind seashells or just-opened mollusk shells.
Some of these hollow figures are gold, some are matte black, and he assembles collections of them into pendants with hidden clasps or wires them as earrings.
With the look of ancient jewelry that might have adorned the woman they’re named for, Erich’s Cleopatra necklaces evoke another time. Like his pods, they’re sleek and architectural, but in a completely different way. Combining precious metals with gemstone material, such as platinum with carnelian or yellow gold with chyrsoprase, these necklaces call to mind the symmetrical, clean lines of Egypt. Glamour from another age, created for this one.
Patina Gallery is proud to show and share Erich Zimmermann’s work exclusively.
