Cleaning of Gold or Silver Jewelry:
We love matte surfaces at Patina! These surfaces add more dimension, surface interest, texture and contrast.
Matte surfaces also add another dimension to cleaning.
We have found 2 great solutions to cleaning a softer and more matte surface. (DO NOT USE ON OXIDIZED STERLING SILVER)
· Sometimes a dip is a better solution to cleaning a stubborn surface with built-up tarnish or oxidation, and especially one that has delicate pieces with connective elements. We recommend Griffith Insta Clean Tarnish Remover. It is a non-toxic dip or wipe-on tarnish remover for cleaning gold, silver, and copper. You can find this on Amazon in 4 and 8oz.
· To remove built-up tarnish from your silver, make a thick paste with 1/4 cup baking soda and 2 tablespoons water. (You could even add a drop of liquid soap). Apply with a damp sponge, finger or soft toothbrush and gently rub until the paste turns gray, rinse, and buff dry with a soft cloth.
