The shimmer of gold and gems
Nancy Michel and Alexandra Watkins have shared Atelier Janiye in Boston, Massachusetts, since 1982. Though the work of each artist is unique, with its own style and voice, both women are known for their use of high-karat gold and the unmatched quality of their metalsmithing.
Nancy does chase and repoussé work, complementary hammering techniques used to make relief patterns in gold.
She uses unusual gems, such as antique coral and pre-Columbian jade and turquoise, and creates clasps by hand that bring another level of artistry to every piece. Inspired by nature, her one-of-a-kind pieces are sensuous, exquisitely crafted, and stunningly flattering to the ear, the wrist, the hand, and the neck.
Patina Gallery is proud to show and share Nancy Michel’s work exclusively.
