G. PHIL POIRIER
In the pursuit of pattern and precision.
Poirier is an artist who transforms expressions born of technical mastery and romantic precision into soul-stirring jewelry made for the body. Part engineer, part craftsman, he follows his passion for pattern. In the language of shape, space and light, Poirier unites old world excellence with innovative design.
“Ancient methods and designs, such as those used by the Etruscans, the Egyptians and the Greeks are a frequent source of inspiration in my work. As are the natural forms of feathers, leaves and waves. I make a great deal of my own tools and often cut my own stones to enlarge my palette of what is possible.”
As an artist, he sculpts a myriad of shapely delicacies for Patina. Cuff bracelets, inspired by the Moorish lattices of wooden room screens, portray beguiling silhouettes engraved on their surfaces that teeter between shadow and light. In his Damascus rings, Poirier exhibits signature patterns such as his Starry Night, Analemma, Crossgrain, and Twist designs. As organic flexure is warped, annular shapes fluidly float amongst concentric details that navigate the ebb and flow of a smooth slate sky.
The artist explores his endless interest for geometric beauty, procuring architectural treasures that capture the soul.
