Peter Schmid of Atelier Zobel
August – 2025
Amour

Patina Gallery is honored to welcome Peter Schmid of Atelier Zobel as he returns with an exhibition that pulses with passion and quiet grace.

Each piece a testament to love untamed, crafted by hands that know both boldness and restraint.
Peter Schmid’s artistry, cultivated over decades at Patina, melds past and present in luminous conversation. Revered across the globe, Peter does not simply design, he listens. To metal, to stone, to silence. Each creation is a love letter written in metals and gemstones, a declaration for those who refuse the ordinary.
Schmid’s latest exhibition, Amour, invites viewers into a world where jewelry is more than adornment; it is a language of emotion, a physical expression of passion, instinct, and care. Amour is a celebration of contrasts: raw energy and refined touch, chaos and clarity, emotion and craft. Schmid brings together his most evocative art jewelry, revealing the deeply human impulses at the core of his work.

Throughout the collection, Schmid once again defies convention, unveiling a body of work born of wind-blown sands and sunlit stone—an ode to the ancient heart of North Africa, where the spirit of the Amazigh endures like a carved glyph in the desert. Here, under endless skies dyed deep with Tuareg blue, stories are etched in gold and silver.
It is from this sacred soil that Schmid’s newest creations take flight.
Geometry dances with heritage; the lines of tattoo and textile become the architecture of adornment. These are not mere ornaments, but talismans—timeless echoes of strength, pride, and grace. His creations flirt with the surreal: opals that flicker like trapped fire, moonstones that glow from within, aquamarine with a pulse, and other delectable gems steeped in liquid metals—platinum, high karat gold, and silver melting into gradient dreamscapes.

Each piece in this exhibition presents the bold, emotive world of Peter Schmid, where fine jewelry becomes wearable art.
Through gold, platinum, and vibrant gemstones, Schmid channels amour—not soft or sweet, but fierce and alive. His designs pulse with the energy of wild hearts, breaking conventions with painterly textures, asymmetry, and raw elegance. Yet every piece is shaped with gentle hands, crafted with care, balanced for the body, and made to be felt. Amour is a tribute to passion, freedom, and craftsmanship at its most intimate. Jewelry here isn’t worn, it’s lived.
Together, three forces—amour, wild hearts, and gentle hands—form a rhythm and define the emotional landscape of this exhibition. Schmid’s work is about duality: the soft and the strong, the wild and the intimate, the spontaneous and the precise. It is about holding all of it at once.
