Patina Gallery, in collaboration with Charon Kransen Arts is proud to introduce
Infinite Beauty On The Move, featuring the work of master German metalsmiths, Ulla & Martin Kaufmann
Explore a curated collection of over 80 pieces, including art jewelry, tableware and hollow forms from leading legacies of high craft.
From their atelier in Hildesheim, Germany, the Kaufmanns have worked together since 1970, uniting their roots in classic modernism with contemporary design. The artists captivate with visionary works that, in the span of their over 50-year careers, have propelled them as amongst the most revered metalsmiths of our time.
“In the course of our artistic evolution, we abandoned traditional ways of thinking and developed forms directly from life. A tendency towards simplicity runs through our entire oeuvre.”
Ulla & Martin Kaufmann
Innovative jewelry in 18K yellow gold & palladium white gold emerge from the artists’ genuine interest in their material. The Kaufmanns are acclaimed for their unparalleled forging of gold that continually astonishes and surprises the wearer. Perpetual hammering of the metal yields supple, spring-like quality to jewels, as one is able to flex the precious matter in unimaginable proportions.
Every decision is essential to the working body of a Kaufmann piece, in balance, shape and composition.
From unfathomable to magnificent
As pieces move from one pair of hands to the next, the artists work within a mixture of spontaneity and intuition. Multi-faceted character and dimension are found when the work is reduced to its purest self.
On the surface, in movement and in architectural grace, the Kaufmanns enrapture the spirit with infinite possibility, yielding masterful works of art. Always evolving, on the move, they touch the heart with a collection to stir the soul.
