Cylindrical glass beads 'twist pattern', two oval bands with two stopper beads in pave diamonds set in silver

On January 20, 2019, our moon entered a total eclipse, journeying to the depth of the earth's shadow. What arose from this natural phenomenon was the purest hues of crimson set ablaze upon its surface. As many watched in complete fascination, so did Claire Kahn. She recounts that the moon was hardly visible, yet there was a glimpse of deep red with an edge of gray and burnt orange. The sky was pitch black.

Creating palpable expression from what she observes, Kahn skillfully translates the experience into a vision of color and progression. Illustrating her experience gazing upon the blood moon, she navigates her narrative through patterns of black, slowly progressing into browns, auburn, grays into tones of umber, orange and red. Showing us a piercing darkness, yet from within, the transformation of an eclipsed sky. In the periphery of oval bands, featuring a stunning set of pave diamonds in silver, are two diamond and silver stoppers. They are the presence of stars in Kahn's piece, shining their lone sparkle in the dynamic night scene. Meant to wear in a variety of ways, the piece offers many passages of the blood moon to express at your desire.
