Earthenware clay
Working in earthenware, artist Jim Kraft hand-builds each piece through coiling or slab construction, allowing the natural irregularities of the process to remain. These subtle marks celebrate the presence of the maker, transforming imperfection into poetry. His surfaces—burnished earth tones, soft blues, and oxide-washed whites—evoke relics unearthed from ancient sites. Rather than polished refinement, his forms offer a raw, tactile elegance. They invite touch and contemplation, blurring the line between object and experience. In Kraft’s hands, texture becomes memory, and each vessel stands as a quiet monument to time, process, and the beauty of the handmade.
