Vellum, ink on paper, graphite, cotton mat board, painted white wood frame
"Sometimes I place painted color behind the cut vellum. The vellum becomes a screen, revealing color instead of pure light."
The work unfolds like a dreamt landscape seen from above, where shapes drift between order and looseness. Kahn loved how ink gathered at the end of each stroke, forming small pools that gave each mark its own gravity. She shaped topography with gentle rises and shifts in shadow, letting the land she imagined take form. The interplay of shapes and color echoes the quiet terrain she returned to again and again.
