Paper, cotton mat board, conservation clear acrylic, painted white wood frame
Composed of layered vellum, each sheet cut into intricate patterns and laminated between clear acrylic, these works invite light to slip through their shifting densities. Illumination moves gently from bright to shadowed, creating a slow, rhythmic gradation of tone.
Inspired by the geometry and quiet beauty of Amish quilts, Kahn echoes their harmony and balance, revealing her long-standing affection for their patterns.
Each piece truly awakens when light meets it. Hang it in a window, where sunlight or a soft interior glow can pass through, or place it nearer the wall, where it offers its own subtle shimmer. For guidance on displaying this work in your home, please contact the gallery.
