6-6 Series, Encaustic Monotype, wax, paper on freestanding wooden frame
Using careful thought and precision, Suzy Wahl creates an artful assemblage of encaustic monotypes. Using a warmed glass plate, she draws her composition with the use of colored wax. With satisfaction, she presses strong paper onto its waxen surface to reveal a mirror image of her mind's intention. Creating pieces of art with unique, compelling personality.
Masterfully, Wahl effectively paints a division of space & proportion, and miraculously, such dramatics emerge out of unlikely places, as such eminence is evoked simply by two shades of yellow. A slow progression, light yellow transforms into cadmium. Distinctly separated by charcoal etchings, Wahl inspires complexity in the subtle diversity of color and form. Creating a clever composition that encourages discovery upon further observation.
