Encaustic Monotype, wax, paper on freestanding wooden frame
Using careful thought and precision, Suzy Wahl creates an artful assemblage of encaustic monotypes. Using a warmed glass plate, she draws her composition with the use of colored wax. With satisfaction, she presses strong paper onto its waxen surface to reveal a mirror image of her mind's intention. Creating pieces of art with unique, compelling personality.
Diverse terrains are delightfully parceled between four planes of artful imagination. A deep sea of red and green seamlessly splashes into rolling sandy tides, swallowing faded speckles of color in its wake. Below, a fog of yellow sweeps into the brushes of pale alabaster, scored by eager streaks of green. Lastly, a cloud cover of soft, blended tones, grounded with forest green and rust red are touched by a light sky of mustard and golden brown. A stunning quartet of color, lovely in space, awaiting its forever home.
