Verity

Quilted, hand and machine stitched, appliqued, hand embroidered and constructed silk, cotton, felt, tulle. Custom steel  armature for displaying as a wall artwork (as intended).

“VERITY” creates a metaphorical landscape - a landscape of ideas built from layers of stitching, shapes, and thoughts.  My vessels were originally inspired by ancient Greek Amphorae. They combined narrative with form. The addition of text is my contemporary response.  This metaphorical vessel - any vessel - mimics the human body. This "swag" vessel, hanging on the wall rather than free-standing, sculpturally “drapes”. It's in relief - a facade.  
  
VERITY is built from multiple layers and internal quilted fabric struts (it’s ONLY fabric throughout).  It's quilted, hand and machine stitched, hand embroidered, and 
constructed. 
 
Stitched imagery, and words: “Verily…verity…as we wander we wonder… yellow sun-hot whispers…blue air shifts…red thought pulses” relate to resilience in the face of difficulties - in my case, physical disability from multiple sclerosis.
