Cylindrical glass beads
Transforming what she observes into a palpable mosaic expression, Claire Kahn creates a wearable piece of art from her mind's imagination. Enthralled by the beauty of the wild irises which grow near her home in Jacona, NM, she translates its mysterious elegance into a lyrical language of pattern and color.
Iris are everywhere here. More than I've ever seen before. The gardens are full of them, especially bearded iris. There are abundant areas of wild iris in the pasture behind my house. There's a spectrum of saturated color, opposites in blue and purple, with yellow accents and marvelous striped iris in purple and white.
Brilliantly, the maker pairs a majestic combination of purple and brown, whereby to reveal a climax of exuberant yellows, whites and blues. The vivacious ensemble masterfully illuminates the striking perplexity of the striped iris near the artist's home. From there, Kahn creates a splendid relief of deep purples and blues, as if to illustrate its dramatic petals in full bloom. As exceptionally elegant as they are dynamic, Kahn creates an impeccable work to naturally adorn the heart and season the soul.
