Earthenware clay
Kraft’s contemporary lattice-worked vessels echo the spirit of Northwest basketry, their open forms breathing with an exchange between inside and out. Unlike solid containers that hold and conceal, these airy grids suggest thresholds—gates, wells, fences—structures meant to protect yet unable to fully enclose. They whisper of vulnerability and resilience, of what lies hidden and what longs to be seen. At the heart of Kraft’s practice is a quiet alchemy: drawing forth the elemental soul of clay, shaping it through hand, heart, and intuition. For him, the vessel is the truest form—not by theory, but by feeling, by something sacred and ineffable.
